My name is Therese Dansby and I'm a Registered Nurse, International Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and homeschooling mom of 3.
I believe in taking a "whole"-istic approach to the breastfeeding relationship, and I strive to find creative solutions to common (and not-so-common) struggles, enabling moms to reach their breastfeeding goals.
I truly believe that a mom who is active and involved in her plan of care is the happiest, and happy moms are most prepared to raise a baby in the healthiest possible environment, physically and emotionally.
I would be honored to work alongside you on this wonderful journey!
Therese was so encouraging, as I was very worried about breastfeeding a preemie. She sent me articles explaining the research on breastfeeding and preemies. She helped me understand the basics, so I knew we actually had a few months to learn a proper latch. This was so encouraging because it took us about a month to breastfeed exclusively. She also gave me confidence about using a bottle (of pumped milk) to help us get out of the hospital. We kept working on breastfeeding at home and once she was strong enough, my baby did great. Learning to breastfeed can be so difficult. Having someone beside you to encourage you and make sure you don't start bad habits is a huge help. Breastfeeding is worth every cent you invest in it. It is a wonderfully sweet experience. The beginning has been an uphill battle for me, but once breastfeeding was established, it was so easy. My advice to new moms is to hang in there, take care of yourself, ask for help, and know that it gets so much easier!
